Having always loved horses, it naturally follows that I would dedicate my life to raising them. My first noteworthy horse was a plain brown registered daughter of Corkey Barnes, AQHA, a foundation-bred racing Quarter stallion. She and I were glued together as youngsters but the second and really significant animal came along a little later on. His name was Skips Dundee. He was a huge, palomino Wiescamp-bred stallion, and he definitely set the basis and standard for many a horse to follow! We dominated the show ring in the 70's and 80's with his get and had many Wisconsin High Point Halter Horses to his credit! But, occasionally one came along with to much white to register AQHA , and that's where the PAINT story begins.   

I developed a tremendous interest in bloodlines and became J-J Pedigree Service. Many years of tracing pedigrees, and studying what allot of those breeders did, gave me the knowledge I needed to put together a really powerful group of breeding stock. Showing the registered circuit at halter also helped us develop that keen eye for proper conformation and quality that every conscientious equine breeder needs! The challenge then became to produce those big, pretty, colorful, horses who not only looked good, but even more importantly, were conformationally correct! We raise horses who have the willingness and athleticism to perform in the arena, the good looks it takes to win a halter class, or a horse to ride safely down the trail- in other words a horse to be proud of!  

I feel our 2 stallions here at K Bar K Paints closely typify what the modern American Paint Horse is all about. Each and every one of our mares have been carefully chosen for her individual qualities and time-honored bloodlines. And it's these combinations that have been repeatedly producing those beautiful, winners-circle babies for you!
